Buxton Beach Nourishment Begins Today
The dredge Liberty Island arrived in Buxton on Thursday and is set to start pumping sand Friday, kicking off a project that will place roughly 2 million cubic yards on the beach, according to Dare County via the Outer Banks Voice. The Island Free Press confirms the same timeline, with Great Lakes Dredge & Dock running the operation. The project follows weeks of preparation, including groin-area closures for repair work down south.
